Ceiling soundproofing

We offer a wide range of soundproofing solutions for ceilings to meet every client's needs.

Our ceiling systems help with noise transfer to rooms above or from noisy neighbours and will give you between 32 and 51 decibel improvement.

All our systems can be upgraded to reduce your noise problem further. This can be done by incorporating different systems together or by upgrading the plasterboard with acoustic panels and membranes. All systems can be tailor made to fit your needs and circumstances.

We will always offer a free no obligation consultation either via an onsite visit or telephone conversation to help you understand the best solution for your needs.

Resilient bar ceiling

This system involves removing the existing plasterboard layer of the ceiling.

  1. Friction fit dense 100mm acoustic mineral in between existing joists.

  2. Install resilient bars (a noise absorbing bar) to the joists.

  3. Install 19mm sound plank plasterboard to the resilient bars and seal the perimeters with acoustic mastic.

  4. Install 12.5mm sound shield plasterboard to the resilient bars and seal the perimeters with acoustic mastic.

  • Airborne performance:  +/- 17db
  • Impact performance:  +/- 15db
  • Loss in depth:  +/- 50mm / 2 inch

Independent ceiling

This system involves installing a completely independent timber frame, 20mm from the offending ceiling.

  1. Friction fit dense 100mm acoustic mineral in between the new joists.

  • Airborne performance:  +/- 25db
  • Impact performance:  +/- 26db
  • Loss in depth:  +/- 175mm / 7 inch

Acoustic hanger system

This system can be fitted straight to the existing ceiling, and involves installing a noise absorbing acoustic hanger through the existing plasterboard to the timber joists above.

  1. 50mm x 50mm timbers are fitted through the acoustic hanger and fixed.

  2. Friction fit dense 50mm acoustic mineral wool in between the timbers.

  3. Install resilient bars (a noise absorbing bar) to the joists.

  4. Install 19mm sound plank plasterboard to the resilient bars and seal the perimeters with acoustic mastic.

  5. Install 12.5mm sound shield plasterboard to the resilient bars and seal the perimeters with acoustic mastic.

  • Airborne performance:  +/- 18db
  • Impact performance:  +/- 16db
  • Loss in depth:  +/- 115mm / 4.5 inch
